How To Help Your Hair Grow Longer, Faster!

So you want to make your hair grow? Today I am sharing my top tips & products to help you achieve lovely long strong locks!

How fast your hair grows will completely depend on your body, if you are someone who's hair grows very easily and strong then you are very lucky! However if you're a little more like me, you'll need some help to push your hair past that awkward stage... you know the one where your hair just seems to want stay there and betray you. Unfortunately there's no magic answer that causes overnight mermaid hair, but these are the things I did and the products I recommend which have seriously helped my hair grow a lot in the last year...

1. Get that H2O

This seems obvious but most people don't drink anywhere near the daily guideline of water. If you want your hair to grow it needs to be strong or else it will just break. Drinking water (and just being healthy in general) can have a real effect on the strength and growth rate of hair. Try to up your intake and you will see a result not only in your hair, but the strength of your nails and your skin!

2. Create a hair care routine & stick to it

If you want your hair to grow you're going to have to put in a little bit of time and effort. I personally wash my hair every 3 days, use a nourishing mask once a week and always apply Moroccan oil to my wet hair before drying. Below I've link a few products that I love and trust, which will clean and condition your hair to perfection. You should take a few factors into consideration when shopping for your hair care, you want to make sure you are targeting your problem, for example dryness, split ends or frizz. If your hair is coloured you want to make sure the hair care you choose will not make your colour fade faster because that defeats the point of spending lots money on colouring your hair. I love the Kerastase Complete Nutrition Shampoo & Conditioner!

3. Head Massages
Try to get head massages as much as possible, whether you have to pester a boyfriend, family member or pay someone, just get it done! You could even just do it yourself. This gets the blood flowing towards your scalp and promotes hair growth. Relaxation and hair growth... win win!

4. The 3 minute thing
So this is a weird one and when I read this I honestly thought who would actually do this?! And well the answer is me.. Just lie with your head upside down for 3 minutes everyday. Simple. I thought I might as well give it a go and I'm glad I did because I do believe it helped. Because it's not always easy to get a head massage, this seemed like a pretty easy effortless way to get the blood flowing to my scalp. Just give it a go everyday fro a month and see for yourself.

5. Get a good brush
I can't stress how important this actually is! Make sure you buy a hairbrush that minimises the amount of hair that is going to come out when brushing and try to be as careful as possible when brushing. Tangle Teezers are amazing for detangling wet hair and I also highly recommend softer bristles that smooth the hair better when brushing.

6. Split end rules
To have long hair you have to try your best to keep the ends as healthy as the roots because if your hair is constantly breaking it will look shorter and shorter. Due to styling and heating strands get thinner and weaker towards the ends. The key rule is if you have split ends and can't get it cut for a while, make sure you do not pick at them and snap them. The little hairs will end up everywhere! To prevent split ends try doing a cold rinse after washing your hair, this will lay down the outer layer of the hair which helps with heat damage. Also get regular trims, it only needs to be a cm a time to keep your hair looking healthy. There's no point growing long hair for months if you're told at your hair appointment they need to cut it all off because its too damaged.

7. The less heat the better

This one speaks for itself, it's quite obvious but important. Heat = damage.  Try to find ways to style your hair that do no use heat, there's loads of videos on Youtube by those 'beauty gurus'.

8. Olaplex
Described as 'insurance for your clients hair' this treatment is available at most hairdressers and I highly recommend it. It repairs damaged hair which is a blessing in all hair situations, whether you want to drastically go blonder or get it to grow faster.. It can be pricey but completely worth it to help you get lovely long healthy hair! Check out your local salon and see if they offer Olaplex.

Summer Must Haves | Drugstore Tanning Moisturisers (UNDER £6!)

For some reason I have always classed the 1st June as the start of summer, which means there won't be a day anyone sees my without a tan! I'm a massive fan of gradual moisturisers in my everyday life because it is a lot easier to build up and maintain a natural looking tan. These are my holygrail drugstore tanning moisturisers/lotions that have never failed to provide a lovely colour and they are so affordable. I have been meaning to check out the Bondi Sands range, as I've heard so many good reviews and I want to see how they compare to these favourites here!

Palmers Natural Bronze Body Lotion | £5.69 has been my go-to for about 2 years now so I would highly recommend it, especially because of its pump dispenser. I normally apply this every few days after my shower and it tends to wear really well but be careful to not get build up in certain areas and make sure you take the excess of your hands after applying! Another option I love from the drugstore/high-street is the Dove DermaSpa Summer Revived | £5.00. This gives a lovely glowy look to the skin and feels really moisturising.
I have also included my old time favourite Dove Summer Glow Nourishing Lotion | £4.45. I'm pretty sure the Dove DermaSpa Summer Revived is Doves newer, improved version on the Summer Glow Nourishing Lotion. I personally think the product is exactly the same just in different packaging so I've linked the Lotion just in case you can't get your hands on the DermaSpa Summer Revived for whatever reason.

Let me know in the comments what your holygrail self tanners are!
